Wind Energy is Smarty Policy for Minnesota

In a recent column ("Right here in Minnesota, a windfall of bad policy," Sept. 18), Jason Lewis portrayed wind energy in Minnesota as a costly and dangerous business. The facts are much different, and they point to a success story for our state. Wind energy works for Minnesota, and it has been working for years. The industry is not a fad. Wind is a mature business that has been growing for decades, making substantial investments and providing reliable electricity throughout the state. In Minnesota, we have over 2,500 megawatts of wind energy spinning, powering 700,000 homes and providing about 10 percent of our electricity.
